We recently completed a WordPress website for the non-profit Academy of Professional Family Mediators (APFM). The APFM is the country’s leading organization for professional family mediators. Whether it’s pre-nuptial disagreements, child custody, or other separate familial issues, APFM’s members offer an alternative to traditional litigation.
GoatCloud created a handsome, simple, informative and easy-to-navigate website for APFM. Prior to our work, the organization was using an outdated and non-mobile friendly content management system or CMS as its website platform. We moved their site, including some 70 pages of substantive content, to the WordPress format. The site is now user friendly for both the desktop AND mobile platforms.
We also imbued the site with on-page search engine optimization (SEO) attributes to make the site more accessible to search engines and, in turn, searchers. Such work included adding SEO titles and meta descriptions, and optimizing images. In addition, we ensured that the new site offers a secure (https) browsing environment to the user. Secure browsing is important to the end user of course, but also is being increasingly favored by search engines.
As the organization is member-based, we needed to ensure that APFM could manage memberships via the website. We used the WooCommerce (an ecommerce WordPress platform) Memberships plugin. While not 100% automatic, the plugin automates much of the routine communications to members to ensure that they renew in a timely fashion. It is integrated with Mailchimp as well to send additional messages to membership. The Membership plugin also allows APFM to make certain website content, such as recorded webinars, available only to members. The ecommerce functionality benefits from integration with both Authorize.net and PayPal.
APFM provides as a benefit to member the opportunity to be listed in an online directory. We deployed a separate plugin to accomplish the function. Yet another plugin handles registration for events, such as webinars and the organization’s annual conference. Of course the site links to the APFM’s multiple social media accounts, as well as facilitates others’ sharing website content.
