We recently revamped the website of Old Forge Lake Cruises, an awesome tourist attraction in New York’s Adirondacks.
The old site was dated and not mobile friendly. We converted the website to WordPress and made it responsive (mobile-friendly) by using the Divi theme from Elegant Themes.
Old Forge Lake Cruises provides just those — boat cruises. Because the site permits the purchase of tickets on the site a secure browsing experience (HTTPS) was required to be installed. The prior installation permitted both HTTP and HTTPS viewing of the site. It now renders only in a secure mode. The problem with the former set up is that 1) visitors may be confused about whether the site is actually secure, and 2) search engines may regard the site as two independent sites and not give the site the search love it deserves.
We helped OFLC to set up a new hosting environment and also provide website maintenance services to keep the site up to date, backed up and performing well.
Working with the people at FareHarbor.com, and at the client’s request, we helped to put into place a reservation system for tickets, which facilitates the easy sale of tickets on both a desktop and mobile platform.
We added a nice video to the homepage (available desktop only as such features can take up too much bandwidth on mobile) which seeks to capture some of the fun that visitors will capture on the tour.
The Old Forge Lake Cruises owner, Paul Littman, is a big supporter of the local tourism industry, so we made sure too to include information about other local Adirondack attractions.
If you are looking at the Adirondacks as a summer or fall (foliage!) destination, make sure to check out Old Forge Lake Cruises!
