Online presence makeover for poet Maryanne Hannan

Mar 3, 2016 | Artist, Portfolio

We recently were hired by poet Maryanne Hannan to completely redo her website and otherwise help her with her online presence. She had heard us on WAMC’s Vox Pop, a local call-in radio show we appear on.

Her prior site had been a homespun HTML affair that Maryanne had done herself and admittedly, she feels a bit uncomfortable with website design. We have worked with a number of artists who feel much more comfortable in their own medium than online!

Maryanne gave us a call to see what we could do for her online presence. We put together a handsome, mobile-friendly website, using a design platform from Elegant Themes. Importantly, Maryanne, in addition to being an accomplished poet, is also a budding photographer. We were able to incorporate many of her images into the site to really give it a personal feel.

Though expressing Maryanne’s personality, the site does not lose sight of the fact that it is intended for visitors primarily. Visitors to the site can quickly find Marianne’s poetry and citations to the same. Furthermore, we added a blog function, which Mary Ann has already taken to. One of the outstanding characteristics of WordPress is that it is an outstanding blogging platform. That is where it got its roots after all.

We also made use of many Google services that are quite helpful for website owners. We are using Google reCAPTCHA, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager to effectively monitor site health and traffic and make for a better browsing experience.

We are also helping Maryanne with her (new and improved) social media presence on Facebook and Twitter.

We love Maryanne’s work. She is a treat to work with, and you should definitely check out her new website.
